Amy Sherman wrote this episode that introduces the new neighbors, the Tildens: single dad Ty (Wings Hauser, who'd return four times more) and his daughters Charlotte (Mara Hobel, also four more) and Molly (Danielle Harris, six more).  Darlene turns sixteen and dyes her hair black.  David complains that Darlene has all the power in the relationship, which over time would be Flanderized.  When Roseanne hears that Nancy is going to join Jackie in the loose-meat restaurant, she doesn't want to be left out.  Not a bad episode, but definitely the weakest of the season so far.

Note that Roseanne claims that she had sex with Dan on her sixteenth birthday, but elsewhere it's suggested that their first time was later.  (Maybe it was different kinds of sex.)  This is Laurie Metcalf's 100th episode.
