Turteltaub and Orenstein wrote, and Turteltaub directed, this fifth-season opener, where Don proposes to Ann on the day before their fourth anniversary.  She's so happy that she looks like she's inside a lava lamp.  Unfortunately, the ring has a previous owner who wants it back.  Ann handles things well, realizing that it's the love that matters more than the jewelry.  She does tease Donald at the end for not noticing her new hairdo, as it's now long and straight without really any trace of the flip.

This time Avery Schreiber (without facial hair) plays Mr. Franklin, while Ronnie Schell, who'd been Ann's agent back in '66, now plays Bob Howard.  Reva Rose makes her first appearance as Ann's friend Marcy.  Note, The Brady Bunch and That Girl were now both airing on ABC on Fridays, with Nanny and the Professor and The Partridge Family in between, but as I was only two and not even watching Sesame Street yet, I didn't notice.

For a change, the second half of a TG two-parter is a big improvement.  This time, they play with the spy cliches more and I like the twist with the two sleepwear competitors being brothers.  Ann's clothes are pretty bad in this one though.  But at least we get to see Don struggling with a hibachi.

Waiter Danny Goldman would later be a Counterman.

The fourth season kicks off with this pretty implausible two-parter where Ann becomes an industrial spy.  Well, at least it's nice to see more fashions.

Sandy Kenyon had previously played Ed Burns, and he's Mr. Becker on this and the following episode, while Naomi Stevens had been a Shopper and is Sophie here and in Part 2.  Also, Avery Schreiber is Al Taylor in both parts and would be Mr. Franklin later, while Lou Jacobi plays Leo Scheider in both parts but makes no other TG appearance.  Paul Bryar has his third and last TG role, as Mort Lancasham.  Rick Mittleman wrote one earlier TG episode, wrote both parts here, and then wrote one more after that.
