This is Albert E. Lewin and Burt Styler's only GI episode, although they'd do three each for The Brady Bunch. I found it mostly forgettable except for two things: an answer to why they don't just fix the darn boat and leave; and a shift in shipping. After the G/G build-up so far, we instead have Gilligan and Mary Ann going into the jungle to kiss trees (well, actually to test for sap) and her remarking that it's sweet, just like him. And the Professor's hands get shaky when Ginger talks to him, while later she reacts very positively when he sniffs her neck to see if her perfume is the right kind to dissolve glue. And, no, I don't know why they can build huts to withstand storms but not apply this skill or the materials to the boat.
