This David Raether story feels more like a regular episode, with the family reacting to Darlene's news that she turned down a $30,000/year copywriter job. Suddenly, her usual sarcasm feels like someone looking down on them, rather than her just being one of the Conners. Meanwhile, D.J. buys a musical instrument to win a girl's attention, and it works.
Stan Freberg returns as Mr. Parkin, who apparently lost his job through Roseanne and Jackie's shenanigans in the previous episode and now has to work as a waiter in a fancy restaurant.
