Ellen joins her father's Civil War reenactment group, where she has to deal with Sgt. Timko (Lou Gossett, Jr. in an obvious nod to his Officer and a Gentleman role).  Meanwhile, she suspects her father of having an affair with a "nurse" named Betsy (the still lovely Angie Dickinson).  This Mike Larsen story feels like a throwback to earlier seasons, since it has nothing to do with Ellen's struggles with her sexuality.  Paul Feig, who was Pete on Roseanne and who would go on to, among other things, direct the recent Ghostbusters, here plays Peterson.
