This Davis & Pollock episode has a C- A story and a B B story.  That is, I enjoyed the thread about Hawkeye's worries about his father going into surgery as a patient, with Charles offering sympathy, while both men remember what their family life was like.  (Charles's father was very distant, and we know Hawkeye's was not.  We also learn that Hawkeye's mother died when he was ten, whatever it says in other episodes.)  There's a moment when Charles calls him "Hawkeye" rather than Pierce, and Stiers and Alda play it well.  On the other hand, there's the stupid comic relief plot, where Potter uncharacteristically refuses to listen to Margaret or let her bowl, and he even wants her to use her "womanly wiles" on the other team's ringer!

Roy Goldman (as Roy Goldman), Kellye Nakahara (Yamato, again Margaret's sounding board), Dick O'Neill (this time as Col. Pitts), Frank Pettinger (Corpsman), and Marty Thomas (Soldier) return.  Note that the opening theme is now the same as the (shorter) closing theme.
