This is one of the better episodes, with the first villain passing himself off as not only HKP and Penry, but also Penry's three co-workers.  In the second adventure, the villain's pet cat Glamorpuss distracts Spot.

The first adventure has a Carrollian/Baumian escape and a string of "-ooey" rhymes (including in French), while the second has Penry/ HKP switching back and forth between identities and fooling the adoring Rosemary.  (He calls her beautiful, so I guess it's mutual.  And, yes, I know, it's a human and a dog, but blame Hanna-Barbera.)

While I like the touch of the first villain and his sidekicks looking like fish, and the second villain's sidekick being part bush, I had to mark this down because the writers really don't understand how allergies work.  If Green Thumb is allergic to plants, a doctor's mask isn't going to protect him, especially if it doesn't cover his nose.

By this point, I have to wonder if Penry is deliberately undercutting the Sergeant, since he prevents the latter from turning in his captain's exam by, one, blowing the words off the pages with Rosemary's hairdryer (after melting ice in the office and getting them wet), and two, developing a sudden allergy to feathers, despite capturing a villainous bird.

This is the 100th cartoon I've reviewed.

The first adventure has a victim named Sunny Chair who has Cher's long black hair and exposed midriff, but also an unplaceable accent.  The second adventure has someone disguising himself as HKP and claiming his rewards for previous cases.

Although the subplot tying both adventures together is checkers, there's also the theme of identity, and not just Penry/ HKP's.  Of course, no one ever points out that Spot is not only the police station cat but the sidekick of HKP.
