This is Bruce Howard's third GI script and seriously needs a rewrite. There are aspects I like, such as the Professor and Mary Ann helping Ginger act out one of her old movies, and the Professor and the Skipper acting out another. But we've got Gilligan behaving out of character by going power-hungry (not unlike Bobby Brady when he becomes Safety Monitor, although that would be more in character), and then there are two moments, for the sake of jokes, when Gilligan is shown to have super-human powers that enable him to break out of jail, and yet he can't manage this when a plane is flying overhead and might rescue them? Co-Pilot James Spencer would be Ryan in a later episode.
This finishes off '66 in my TV collection, a year of less dramatic change than '65. It's most notable for the influence of mod fashions, mostly on That Girl but also on the "spy" episode of GI. Censorship is still very strict but maybe a bit less so, as with Mr. Howell's "decorator" joke, and Leon Bessemer's mild jokes about being an obstetrician.
