The American episode title is more deceptive than the Japanese "Granny Meets Blinky and Pinky."  The koalas will turn out to be aliens, but the outer-space journey in this episode is just Sandy's daydream.  (I think.  Of course, she could be tripping at the party, since she imagines dancing with Rockette-like five-pointed stars.)  Grandma does joke to a cabbie (who's dressed like a chauffeur) that she's an alien, but it's still an odd episode title.

Anyway, Grandma comes over to stay with Sandy while Kelly is away on a business trip.  (We don't find out yet what business she's in.  I think journalism actually, and it's nice to see a working mom portrayed sympathetically.)  Grandma quickly accepts the koalas, but she and Sandy agree to protect Kelly from the truth.  Meanwhile, Sandy's frenemy Mark tries to find out what's so special about Blinky.  And he makes a reference to E.T., which was one of the top movies of 1982.


*I noticed the copyright on the Nickelodeon version this time, so it's not simply that the show started airing on that cable network in '88.
