So it turns out that yet another man has secretly been living on the island for years, this time the temperamental painter Dubov (played by Harold J. Stone, who'd show up as Gabe Kotter's father a dozen years later).  Were he (who's been here a decade), Feldman, and the Japanese sailor aware of each other's presence but just kept to themselves?  That seems a particularly reasonable question, since David P. Harmon wrote the Japanese sailor episodes as well as this one.  In any case, there are some cute jibes at modern art and it's a pretty good episode overall.  (Check out Ginger's indignation when she thinks she's being asked to pose as a belly-dancer, and fury when she sees her portrait.)
