This is a nice introduction to the series (the Japanese title translates as "A Friend from Down Under"), setting up the main characters and their conflicts, particularly Sandy vs. Pinky.  There are hints that this is more than just a magical toy/animal story, but it works fine on the surface level of the initial situation.  The Wondrous Koala Blinky was a 26-episode anime in 1984, but I recall it being more like 20 episodes that aired on Nickelodeon in the late '80s, when the then-boyfriend and I first got cable.  We found the show kitschy and charming, and I'd argue that we wouldn't have enjoyed it with subtitles as much as we did with the American dubbing.  The voice cast is solid on this one, even if some of them have a tendency to speak in run-on sentences:

  • Brianne Brozey as Blinky
  • Cheryl Chase as Pinky
  • Mari Devon as Kelly Brown (Sandy's mom) and later Olivia
  • Heidi Lenhart as Sandy
  • Edie Mirman as Sandy's Grandmother
  • Jeff Wingless as Osgood the Frill-Necked Lizard (not yet referred to by name)
And joining on future episodes:
  • Theodore Lehman as the High Dingy Doo
  • Mona Marshall as Additional Voices
  • Gregory Snegoff as Alex Brown
I'm not sure how to credit the writers or directors, of which there are many in both the English and Japanese versions, since it's difficult to say who's responsible for what.  "Noozles" incidentally are nose-nuzzles, the way that Sandy wakes Blinky up.
