Sara Gilbert wrote the story that Foster, Lapiduss, and Youngers turned into a teleplay, which is especially interesting considering that the Conner daughters don't come off well in it.  Becky and Darlene want to attend a rock concert hours away and stay overnight, with friends and without adults, so they decide to butter their mother up for Mother's Day.  When Roseanne finds out, she's heartbroken, and it's up to Dan to save the day, which he does through a combination of tough love and deviousness.  There are lighter moments, too, yes, including the hairdos.  (The beauty salon that the Conner ladies go to is not the one Roseanne used to work at.)
