Ed Yeager wrote this story that, despite the slapstick in the Jackie & Roseanne plot, is more of a character study than most of the episodes lately.  We get a little insight into the two sisters, and their sense of competition, but more interestingly we see why Dan feels closer to Mark than to David.  In the end, David agrees to move out in a month or two, although there will be some intervening episodes that might prevent that.  (Details are fuzzy to me, though I know general outlines, e.g. the lottery next season.)  Note that David is working part-time in a pizza place, possibly the one mentioned on the Gilligan episode.  It's unclear if he's also attending college.

Bobbie Bates has a nameless role here, as she did in the Halloween episode.  Supermarket Customer Kathryn Joosten would return as Carol.  Bob Fuller's first of six Roseanne appearances is as a Grocery Clerk.  The one and only Stan Freberg makes his first of three cameos as Mr. Parkin, the boss at the grocery store.
