This Arnold & Meyerson story definitely needs a rewrite. Again, some of this may be due to my watching an edited copy, but that can't cover all the flaws, most of them to do with Barbarino. To begin with, Vinnie is in the hospital, having had his tonsils out, and yet his voice seems completely normal. Kotter tells him about setting up a time for Vinnie to do the make-up test to get into the 11th grade, but Vinnie seems uninterested. He refuses to repay Kotter his share of the lottery ticket (a quarter), and then when the ticket wins $1000, he doesn't see why he shouldn't get $250 of it. And we learn that it took two orderlies to pull him off a nurse! The one non-Vinnie gripe I have is that Juan suddenly has a steady girlfriend but we never see her or hear of her again, and she doesn't do much in this episode. Still, the stuff with the lottery is interesting and a bit funny, including a different Juan winning the jackpot.
John J. Fox, who was Judge Fleming on The Bob Newhart Show, here plays an unknown character, while Sexy Nurse Robin Riker was being typecast that week, since she was Nurse Perry on M*A*S*H.
