David Isaacs and Ken Levine's first of seventeen M*A*S*H stories has Hawkeye temporarily blinded and, well, seeing life in a new way.  The subplot, with Frank making dishonest bets, leads to a funny scene where Hawkeye, BJ, Radar, and Klinger trick Frank into thinking he's hearing a baseball game over the radio.

Sal Viscuso, who turned 28 the day this episode aired, is listed on IMDB as the PA Announcer.  (Usually, it doesn't say so I can't confirm if Todd Susman was the earlier announcer.)  Enid Kent makes her first of fourteen appearances as Nurse Bigelow, while Judy Farrell does her first of eight as Nurse Able.  Bobbie Mitchell (as Lt. Gage, her last appearance on the show) and Kellye Nakahara (Yamato) return.  Twenty-nine-year-old blind actor Tom Sullivan plays Tom Straw, the patient Hawkeye bonds with, and he would later be Mr. Bickley's blind son on Mork & Mindy.
