What's Happening!!: Saturday's HeroABC

As near as I can tell, when Mr. T and Tina got cancelled after five episodes, What's Happening!! temporarily got its Saturday night spot. I probably started watching then, and certainly wouldn't, at age eight, have switched over to CBS for The Bob Newhart Show. This episode about Rerun on the football team, written by Alan Eisenstock and Larry Mintz, is typical dumb fun of the sort that ABC specialized in then, obviously less appealing to me now than at the time. The next episode on the other hand, is one that has stayed with me for years.
Rani DuBois has her second WH role, as Cindy. A pre-Hill-Street-Blues Taurean Blacque makes his screen debut as the teacher Mr. Donovan; he'd also have a role on BNS. This is the first of an impressive 44 WH episodes directed by Mark Warren (about two-thirds of the run).
