While the actual cases are pretty forgettable, I do enjoy the trappings and the voice acting here. The whole martial arts angle was very '70s and I like the way Penry, with the help of his striped cat Spot, changes into his alter ego, although I can see that getting old after a few episodes. As for the voices, the leads were Scatman Crothers as the title character (and singing one of the great Saturday morning theme songs), Kathi Gori as the very Noo-Yawk Rosemary (in what may well be the most micro mini to ever grace a "lady fuzz"), and Joe E. Ross still doing his Car 54 Officer Toody as Sgt. Flint. The supporting cast:
- Richard Dawson
- Ron Feinberg
- Bob Holt
- Casey Kasem
- Jay Lawrence
- Peter Leeds
- Allan Melvin
- Allan Oppenheimer
- Robert Ridgely
- Fran Ryan
- Hal Smith
- Jean Vander Pyl
- Lee Vines
- Janet Waldo
- Lennie Weinrib
- Frank Welker
- Paul Winchell
And, yes, welcome to the President Ford era.
